I once wrote that winter was my favorite season when it comes to style. Still rings true for two reasons…actually make that three.
One– Winter’s color palette is to die for. Tan monochromes, all and every shade of black, cool-weathered light blue and champagne pink, and the christmas-y combination of oxblood and emerald green–all oh so good.
Two– Winter is for layers upon layers of jackets and coats, tights with socks, and dresses over jeans. Winter is the best for those of us who love getting dressed, because there is so much room to layer, mix and match, and take on and off.
Finally, three– Boots. Winter weather makes me want to lace up a serious pair of combat boots, and then the same day slip on some shimmery party boots. Options are endless. Boots can be casual or playful and both sexy and practical. Whether it’s for a day at the office or a NYE party, allow me to help you navigate your winter boot options for all occasions at any budget. Be warned, a pair or two of these may wind up on your Christmas list. Feel free to pass that list along, or hit the winter sales and ‘treat yo’ self’. You earned it!
With so many opportunities to wear boots this chilly season, I’ve compiled a list of 7 kinds of boots that every girl should have in her closet.
A Simple Black Bootie
Flawless travels home, a white Christmas, and the perfect pair of black boots– a true Christmas miracle. You’ll wear them throughout the day, out in the evening, and to coffee over the weekend. Every woman needs a pair of simple, low heeled, black boots to pair with jeans, over tights with a dress or skirt, or to compliment a calf dusting coat. So versatile and easy to style, a great pair of black booties is your easy ticket to the perfect outfit all winter long. When in doubt, shop Steve Madden for every style of black boot imaginable, the quality and price is hard to beat.
A Weekend Ready Pair
There is no better time to strap on some casual booties and get cozy in a coffee shop than during the chilly, winter months. I’ve picked a few of my favorite casual weekend boots that easily transition from brunch with friends to an evening walk to see the lights. They’ll pair perfectly with denim and your favorite oversized sweater.

However, finding the right color, height, and fit for your body type can be difficult. But don’t give up just yet! Once you find the perfect pair and however you choose to style them, rock them with confidence. Knee high (and beyond) boots are definitely having a moment right now, and will add major drama to any winter outfit.
A Funky, Statement Boot
These fun and sassy boots are intended for outfits to be planned around. Start with the perfect bit of sparkle, pop of color, or unique style and build your outfit from there. I love all of these funky, statement boots.

So I may never be able to justify the price of these perfect pairs, but a girl can dream. Right? Some of my favorite–almost can’t believe it, more than next month’s rent, overpriced booties below.
