Your favorite way to be active. Why do you love it?
Outdoor runs or indoor weight lifting. I love running in the fall, spring and summer, because it’s refreshing. It makes me feel energized and full of life. I love weight lifting for power and strength. It makes me feel like I could conquer the world when I reach new goals. Feeling strong and happy are my FAVORITE feelings.
Find yourself in a slump, how do you motivate yourself?
I look for it in anything. Finding a new band, trying something new, cooking a colorful meal, praying for a little boost, perseverance.
What advice do you have for dealing with stress?
Exercise always brings me back. If I feel anxiety or stress, a good sweat session has never failed to pick me up. I also like to say it out loud. I let it out, but sometimes you just have to take a hold of it and realize it’s there. You’re always stronger than you think and you can make it through anything.
You’re in a room of teenage girls, what is the best advice you can give them?
To be more confident in themselves. To stand up for what is right and never give up. If I could do one thing in life differently, it would be to care less of what others think. Following your dreams and having confidence in yourself is what will take you places. It is what will set you apart and make you better. Being better on the inside is what counts. Treat people right and love your life no matter what challengers occur.
Who is one female, other than your mother, that propelled, supported, or gave you an opportunity in your life or career? What was her best advice?
I would have to say my current boss. She is an incredible hard worker, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, boss, friend, and wife. She is fun-loving. She has taught me things without even trying. I see in her determination. She loves her family and she has done so much to make sure she is able to support the lifestyle she wants to give them, and it is a great one. She’s taught me that if I work hard enough, someday it will pay off.
What issue regarding women is important to you and how are you supporting it?
Equality will always be an issue that I respect we DO have now, but feel we have worked so hard to keep. We, as women, have to keep working hard, taking care of our families, supporting our friends, and supporting our co-workers. To be women that make it to the top is hard work, but something we won’t stop fighting for. We are strong and deserve nothing less than the BOSS status. We can do it if we stand strong and support. Girls against the world!
The best thing a woman can be is
Confident in herself
List three things you love right now
I love the place I work at
I love the people in my life
I love the ideas I have for this year
What is a goal you have in 2017? Why is it important?
My goal this year is to USE my talents, instead of setting them aside. It’s important to me because it could take me somewhere that I want to be. It could make me better.
I feel most confident when I’m wearing
My Docs!!!! For some reason every time I put these black boots on I stomp and glide through the day. Black leather is like my soul or something.
Who do you aspire to be more like? Why?
My boyfriend. Weird, right?!! He is so caring, kind, creative and hardworking. He is a crazy talented Graphic Designer, and can screen print like no one around. Some of his work blows my mind! He’s very smart and innovative. I love seeing what he does and it’s inspiring. He is also a loving father. He is the coolest parent in America and I have always thought highly of him. He loves his daughter so much. I think it’s really beautiful. He would do anything in the entire world for that little girl. He truly is someone I feel great being paired with, because he makes me want to be better, everyday. He makes me want to care more, learn more, work harder, love harder, cherish moments, and let things GO. 🙂
